Jenny Diski was a fearless writer, for whom no subject was too difficult, even her own cancer diagnosis. Her columns in the London Review of Books – selected here by her editor and friend Mary-Kay Wilmers, on subjects as various as death, motherhood, sexual politics and the joys of solitude – have been described as 'virtuoso performances', and 'small masterpieces'. Jenny Diski was a British writer. Diski was a prolific writer of fiction and nonfiction articles, reviews and books. She was awarded the 2003 Thomas Cook Travel Book Award for Stranger on a Train: Daydreaming and Smoking around America With Interruptions.

Hon är född i London 1947 men bor numera i Cambridge. Hon har givit ut en rad romaner och är en välkänd litterär skribent i tidningar som Mail on Sunday, Observer och London Review of Books … Jenny Diski, who died of cancer in 2016, just after the publication of her final book, “In Gratitude” (which was, in part, about dying), was ahead of her time. On Saturday, April 30, I came home from the emergency room after just having an IUD of “suboptimal placement” removed (but that’s a story for a different day), to find the newest issue of the London Review of Books in my mail box.
