Two Factor Theory and Significance Herzberg’s Theory of Motivation tries to get to the root of motivation in the workplace. Also known as Herzberg's motivation-hygiene theory or the two-factor theory, the Herzberg theory states certain elements within a workplace lead to job satisfaction, while others lead to dissatisfaction. Herzberg developed the theory to better understand an employee's attitude, motivation and overall satisfaction in the workplace.
